The idea of writing the Blog had come to me in March 2012 when I was discussing with my two friends, Shivaram and Avinash, on how do we make a difference. We used to have long discussions on teaching pedagogy to ways on how to create jobs for the economically weaker section. We used to talk and discuss anything under the sun. Through the passage of time I realized that one cannot have answers to each and everything. You cannot have knowledge and answers to A to Z things in your life time but you definitely can strive to achieve A to Y and strive to get the Z in question.
Also one thing I realized was we cannot limit our mind's imagination but we definitely need to have limitations. Imagination like Knowledge is without boundaries so it becomes very important for us to know what we are doing with. We try to give it a direction by giving tools in the form of questions or challenges. Like imagination, there is no end to knowledge but there has to be direction in form Question to which an Answer can be sought.
Its a paradox.
This has become the basis for my blog - A2Y
The idea of how I came up with this logo is also very interesting and would like to share it with you all.
The letter A is made up of 3 lines and being an Architect the first thing that came to my mind was a Triangle. The shape was perfect and apt.
In Geometry, the minimum lines that are required to form a closed entity is three. For me it looked as if I had taken three elements and made sense out of it in the form of a Triangle. It was as if a question was answered, like a challenge was given to the mind on how to use.
Q. What can you do with three lines?
A. Make a Triangle.
It signifies that certain thing inside our brain has found means to communicate. We strive to give shape to the unfinished. Try to communicate through different expressions or modes.
Also no openings at the edges or in-between means there are no loose ends. What ever we question has to be answered without any loose ends. If they are present it means the answer is not complete and we need to pursue it further through research and close the loop. For this we need to constantly push the boundaries of understanding.
The letter Y is also formed by using three lines. Yes, and to me it also represents the vast space, the built environment, with each of its three lines denoting the three axis - x, y and z. Depending on the parallax you choose, the lines may appear to be going in different directions from a single point or may appear as if three lines are converging at a common point.
This is very similar to how a Question may make our mind go in different directions in search of Answer on an unending quest or how different conclusions may lead to a common answer.
The three lines also signifies directions, making the mind open and be able to incorporate new ideas with inputs from various sources. One need to look in all possible directions before arriving to a conclusion.
The number 2 is an acronym for the word 'to'. This number too could also be created using 3 lines or that is what I have done. The design tries to link the above two ideas of being open minded and also having a direction so that no loose ends are present. The idea is to show that they are inter-dependent. One cannot move forward without challenging the other. It shows the dynamic nature of the relationship through the inclined lines
showcasing constant rise and fall based on your outlook.
Another parallel which I considered was inspired from our epics - Ramayana and Mahabharat. The straight nature of the line like the Hero Rama in Ramayana signifies consistency while the inclined nature of the lines forming different angles and moving in a different direction signifies end of an Era like how Treta yug ended in the end of the Mahabharata and new Era started in a totally different approach.
Also we have incorporated the three prime colors in the logo. Every other color in the universe is an outcome of mixing these in some ratio. While linking different view points its the basics that need to be emphasized as everything else is just an outcome of it.
I shall strive to get this Dynamism in incorporating new ideas that will lead me to different approaches and give direction to my Blog.
Thank you.
